The Garden
Mnemnosyne
Mnemnosyne is the sister of Ithilyia. Unlike her sister, Mimi's mind is more solid and grounded - she is not nearly as enigmatic or fleeting as Ia, and in ways is much more real and tangible than her sister.
The divide between this tangibility and her immortality has troubled Mimi; she is enamoured by mortal lives, watching as they were fulfilled - something she feels she can never attain. Mimi struggles to accept how her emotions and experiences are not truly her own.
Appearance
Her mother animated her from a stone slab to become sentient and motile. Her softness and kind heart has melted the stone away, but is unable to vanquish its mark as she is tainted by her bitter, unforgiving tendencies. Dainty cloven hooves help her get places - one ankle is decorated with a gold bangle with small, red teardrop jewels dangling off, reminiscent of pomegranate seeds. She always wears her dual-coloured hair in a braided crown around her forehead and ears. She is the personification of memory, perhaps explaining why she is so tied to living things and why she feels nostalgic for experiences that are not hers.
Where to find her
Mimi does not see her sister often - she is far too enamoured by mortality, observing all living things, to travel alongside Ia. However, on the full moon each month, she meets with Ithilyia in a grove of olive trees, where the moon paints the long, soft grass dark blue and washes it with fluid strokes of pale moonlight - where the trees rustle and there's nothing but her sister's fingertips in her hair, tightening her braided crown, and their quiet voices being carried away in the breeze.
