Melba Toast
About
Melba sees the good in all, most certainly to a fault - she now often occupies a state of ignorant bliss, choosing to fill the most pained corners of her mind with lilies and lavender. She harbours a past of inescapable helplessness, the feeling as though time was running out - she never knew what it was counting down to. She nursed her worries through nature and other living things, becoming particularly attached with the honeybees, who became attracted to the sticky, oozing nectar from her pelt. Melba's establishment as a safe haven for honeybees and other pollinating insects lended itself to the ridding of her anxious thoughts, as she began devoting herself to providing sweet, nutrient-rich sugar water to tired bees and butterflies. Though invasive trains of thought still find their way in, she's learned to live with her hazy mind and take things as they come, even if that means pretending that the harm is not there.
Appearance
Golden, honey-coloured girl, Melba's dewy skin glitters with tiny beads of sweet nectar that capture tendrils of sunlight as it shines through the leafy canopy. Her eyes see the world in overexposed pastels and ultraviolet light, seeing colours and patterns no human eye could perceive on its own. Melba carries her tailbone high so that her big, fluffy tail curves over her body.
Where to find her
She often basks on the banks of streams and rivers, roaming the Okanogan Valley in Canada's west, or travelling further south onto the west coast beaches. Days that she spends cooling in the water basin of a waterfall are her least lonely days, as hummingbirds, moths, butterflies, caterpillars, ants, and bees are attracted to sweet, tasty mist that dances in the air.
